On October 28, Mark Zuckerberg officially changed the name of Facebook Inc. to Meta Platforms. This will then be the name of the new parent company, which will encompass all the group’s assets and initiate the expected ‘metaverse’ revolution. That said, many Facebook users are wondering what will happen to their account.
While some see the virtual universe that Zuckerberg intends to build as a “dystopian dictatorship”, others can’t wait to enter the ‘metaverse’, whose gateway will certainly be on Meta’s social networks, namely mainly Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.
“Meta means ‘beyond’ and contains our commitment to building social technologies that take us beyond what is possible today through the digital connection,” explained Zuckerberg at the presentation.
“I am proud of what we have built so far and excited for what is to come as we move […] beyond the limits of screens, beyond the limits of physical distance and into a future where everyone can be present with each other, create new opportunities and new experiences, “he added.
Will my Facebook profile be changed in Meta?
It is important to note that the transition from Facebook Inc. to Meta Platforms, the official name of the new company, took place at the corporate level and not directly on the social network of the same name.
This means that the Facebook profiles will remain in the same place and will not move to another platform or undergo changes in the name. So far, the company hasn’t announced any news in this regard, so everything indicates that the rest of the social networks and companies will not be affected either. Even if the conditional is a must.
Since the topic is extremely topical and will involve many innovations and large-scale consequences and not only in the field of social networks, in the coming weeks we will often return to tarry this topic.
The only thing that will change with Meta is …
More or less everyone has noticed it, every time the aforementioned apps are opened, under the name at the bottom of the screen, the legend “from Facebook” appears. Well, now this text will change to “da Meta” in future versions of WhatsApp, according to the Wabetainfo portal, which has even shared pictures of what the application intro will look like.
The caption of the image “from Facebook” or “from Meta” also appears in the Settings section and users of the beta version of WhatsApp on iOS have confirmed that they can already see the change. Most likely, this will happen in the coming weeks on Facebook and Instagram.
Zuckenberg’s metaverse is a prominent topic with infinite implications and applications. We will therefore come back several times to talk about it in the coming weeks. Your every contribution will be appreciated.
